I've been using Ultrafractal for about 5 years and created many fractals. Then I discovered Apophysis. I finally became aware of how to use the 3D aspects of 3D hack by studying the tutorial that had a 3 dimensional Serpinski Gasket pyramid - I can't remember where or who it was, but I was able to study the parameters and recreate the pyramid and gain understanding of the 3D settings. Now, several fractals that I created are being viewed with the pitch and yaw completely adjusted. It's a whole new way to create new fractals. In fact, the Ablaze fractal that I submitted is actually an upside down view of another fractal that I made and looks completely different.
I also tried my hand at a couple of stereo fractals, but it is hard on the eyes and my wife and I didn't want to cross our eyes that much and that long, so I stopped making them, it wasn't that important to me right now.

I saw your shout on ^cmptrwhz's shoutboard saying you didn't have a gallery. Looks like you found it!! :D You've got some nice pieces too!

Welcome to DA! I'm pretty new myself so I know how it feels when you first get here! You can check out my DA ID section to possibly find some helpful links. I'm trying to turn that part of my site into a Noob Help Center! :D Since I'm really into fractals I have quite a few fractal links on there as well.

Again, welcome to DA! Have fun!!

    Thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm still in the steep learning curve for Apo, although some recent Deviations, like the American flag fractal that was just submitted, have really opened my eyes. Using the Post Editing function to place transforms exactly where you want them in the image has opened up a whole new Avenue. I took the Flag fractal apart and deleted all the transforms except for the stripes and realized what was going on.
I have always preferred to be a purist with fractals and I rarely, if ever, use post processing on them, even when I was using Ultrafractal.
Sorry for babbling, but when one is talking about fractals, there is no short conversation. I hope someday soon to create a fractal as complex as the Flag fractal.
I'll check out your place, it was good meeting you!

#1 I didn't think you were babbling at all! I talk **way** more than you do!!! LOL! Just wait! You'll see! :D

#2 I have no idea what you're talking about when you say you're moving transforms in the Post Editing function. I only use Apo right now but I've had FE and Chaos Pro in the past, I believe. I've never had UF at all. As far as I know, post-render processing in Apo itself lets you adjust gamma and a few other things like that but does *not* let you move transforms. I don't believe there's a way to open a fractal in GIMPshop and change the transforms either but it's a different program altogether anyway. It uses FE as a fractal editor. So it wouldn't be compatible with anything I did in Apo; and I've not yet even attempted to do fractals in GIMPshop at all even though it has the FE capabilities. That's still on the "To Do" list! LOL! Now you've got me very curious though! LOL! :D

#3 I'm not sure exactly which Flag fractal you're referring to. There have been a few of them. *mynameishalo got a DD on one of his though. That's probably the one you're talking about but I'm not sure.

#4 It was nice meeting you too and I hope you find something useful on my page! :)

    Yea, mynameishalo

That fractal has over 60 transforms in it, and the way the stripes were made was an eye opener for me, so I created a quick fractal using stripes just to figure it out. If you get thru the watchband tutorial, it will be time to move on to 3D Hack and then I will send you the Serpinski gasket in 3D and the stripes fractal for you to take apart, if you are interested.
    :icondebi62:
Oh I'm always **interested**! I just don't know if my brain will explode or not!!! It sounds to me like you're a total and serious fractal fanatic and it also sounds like you've got an IQ that would choke a horse! LOL! I think it's going to be quite interesting learning from you and I'll probably know this stuff frontwards, backwards, and sideways before long if I can manage to keep up with you! LOL! :D

thanks for all the help! :thanks:

OK, I recently found a tutorial in DA, I think, and it essentially creates Watchband fractals. What is excellent is that it has an extremely good tutorial on the Editor in Apo. It is for version 2.04, but the knobology hasn't changed. And you get to create an interesting watchband fractal along the way. I don't have time this morning to get the link ext, but I will tonight.
The Post Editing that I was referring to is in the transform editor of APO and 3D Hack, so this tutorial will be extremely helpful.
    :icondebi62:
I'll take whatever you've got!! LOL! I'm so ignorant right now just about *anything* would help! :D
